PV modules laboratory tests
Kmetrics conducted an audit of monocrystalline and polycrystalline photovoltaic panels at 200KWp facilities in the area of Serres.
These photovoltaic installations were hit by heavy hail.
Initially, the insurance company compensated the PV modules that had suffered damage to their "glass". However, over the months there has been a significant drop in production as a consequence of hail stress. The inspection carried out on all the PV modules of the installations found, by the method of electroluminescencethat about 50% of PV modules have been severely damaged (micro-crack cells), and need replacing. It is worth noting that with the use of a thermal camera, regardless of resolution, it is not possible to detect micro-cracks.
The investors, using the control protocols that the “Mobile PV TestCenter” automatically creates for each PV module tested, were compensated by the insurance company for all the panels that were actually affected by hail.
